Anna had last Friday and Monday off from school, so we decided late Friday afternoon to head to the ranch for a family weekend. We appreciate Grandaddy and Debbie's allowing us to enjoy the ranch! It was our first trip to the ranch with just the 4 of us. Not to say we don't enjoy being there with family/friends, but it was good quality time for our little family. The girls had a great time riding the four-wheelers, fishing, hiking, watching the sunset, etc.
On Sunday, we went on a "hike" in search of the deer blind. Chris showed them how Grandaddy had tied orange ties to certain trees plotting the path for hunters to find the blind. So, the search was on for "orange ties". They had a good time. We found some interesting spots on the ranch to explore. It was a great new adventure for us.
We've been asked lately about whether or not we will be having more kids...the answer is NO! Although it would be nice/fun/hectic/an addition to the cousin club...whatever you want to call it...but we are thinking long term...we are in such a great phase right now with Lauren..being able to hit the movie theater, go bowling, explore the ranch together...etc. A new phase of the family. Not sure if I want to go back to diapers...as much as I love the baby phase...they grow up...adolescence...dating...driving, etc. We have some challenging yet rewarding years ahead of us. But I think two is all I can manage. So for now, we are enjoying watching the girls develop the "sisterly" bond...finding new activities to enjoy together, etc. The girls slept in the bunk room and it was neat to hear them in there just hanging out on the top bunks talking to each other. They are growing up too fast.
All in all, it was a great weekend of quality time together.
